The DVD rental industry as a whole has endured a parting of the ways ever since a way to rent movies online became available. The days of the customer being limited to going to the video store and standing in line has made way for sites such as Netflix who provide movies to rent online for a flat monthly fee.
After all people always thought in the past that the things we use today would have never happened. Bill Gates famously said that we would never need a computer with more than 256 KB in memory. Radio pioneer Guglielmo Marconi said that we would never use the TV because people didn’t want to watch live pictures in boxes, it was too much work.
I bought my dad the next highest subscription. At $13.99 a month, that allows him to order two DVD movies at a time. With that plan, he can be watching one movie while the second one is in the mail, so he’s rarely without one movie waiting for him to watch. You can also pay $16.99 and get three DVD movies at a time, but my dad and I decided the two DVD movies was enough. With that subscription, my mom and dad figured out they see about 25-30 DVD movies or TV shows every month.
Amazon Instant Video, on the other hand, when it comes to other platforms leaves me wanting, and has no-where near the accessibility that Netflix offers. WTF Amazon? Fix this. Now in they’re “defense” Amazon is about shopping so the user experience of Amazon Instant Video is set up to sell/rent movies to you at the same time. Just differing goals their Netflix wants you to enjoy the movies and the experience; while Amazon wants you to consume (and of course they make that very easy).
The days when you had to sit in front of your TV set, glued to the screen so that you wouldn’t miss your favorite movie are gone. Now if you have an internet connection in your laptop or computer, all you have to do is connect to a website to which offers movie streaming or get a software which allows you to watch full go movies after downloading . The advantage here is that you can be in your room and be comfortable and watch the movie, pause it or watch it over and over again, all for free and without any inconvenience.
You do need to consider the negative side of bootleg movies as well. Some are illegal. That’s right, copyright infringement lingers with a lot of these movies. Using a pay site can help you avoid this issue. If you are brave though, venture out for those 100% free bootleg movies on the internet. But beware of viruses and spyware. Anything you download today can be loaded with them. Ads! How many times have you tried to watch bootleg movies only to find out fifteen minutes into the film, an ad pops up and stays on the screen? You learn the hard way after spending several hours downloading free bootleg movies only to find out it’s not worth watching.
With all the developments in entertainment, we can now watch movies through the internet at the comforts of our own home without buying any discs or renting. Just remember the things that you need and you will surely enjoy watching movies online.
