The Free Org Chart Diaries

As a lifelong listmaker, I discovered mindmapping did not come naturally to me. I initially tried it at the urging of a friend a number of years ago, however I kept lacking space and my notes would run the edge of the paper. It also offered me a major case of writer’s cramp, so I gave up on mind mapping for a couple of years.

Then I heard about some free mindmapping software application offered on the Internet, so I surfed around a bit till I discovered and attempted a couple. This was marginally much better, but inadequate to transform me from my lists.

Then, simply a couple of months earlier, I discovered a different piece of mind mapping software that altered whatever for me. Mindmapping deal with a single principle, that you have a major topic identified in the center and several branches and sub-branches coming from that. The maps can be as huge and complex as you like, or as basic. However the software application is not all developed equal, so you need to search a bit to discover one that works for you.

Here’s what made the difference for me. I was working on a plan to develop an audio CD to sell on Amazon, and there was quite a list of things to do, consisting of producing the item itself, finding someone to develop the graphics package, get it made by CreateSpace and noted for sale on Amazon, promote it and send out traffic to its page. Oh yes, and one more little thing: I needed to apply to the IRS for a tax number since I don’t live in the U.S

. Now if I had actually made my usual lists for this, I would have marked off the product about applying to the IRS, and then I would have been stuck waiting for their reply. But when I laid everything out on a basic mindmap, it was clear to me that while I waited, there were much more items I might finish, so by the time I got my tax number everything else was ready and I might get my CD up there making money for me.

That’s when I ended up being a convert, and ever since I’ve become map delighted. I used my mindmapping software application to make my business plan for this year, to launch my monthly Wilkie Webinar program, to make notes while listening to teleseminars, to record new ideas I wasn’t quite ready to deal with so that they would not escape, therefore far more.

If you have not tried mindmapping, I prompt you to experiment with the software application that’s offered and make a few maps. I predict you’ll end up being as gladly addicted as I have! Learn more about Free Remote Work here.
